A door-mounted pet door should feel like part of the home, not an afterthought. This design is built for homeowners who want convenient pet access without giving up the comfort and control of their living space. Once installed, it presents a clean, intentional look while supporting everyday use.

The magnetic sealing system plays a central role in that experience. Magnets along three sides help the flap return to a closed position after each use, creating a more consistent seal and helping prevent wind from pushing the flap open. This added control is especially noticeable during changing weather conditions.

Insulation That Works With Your Home
The flap itself is built with a dual-layer design that uses trapped air to slow heat transfer. Instead of behaving like a simple opening, the door maintains a more stable barrier between indoor and outdoor environments, helping reduce temperature swings near the entry point.

Security is addressed with a locking cover designed to provide a strong physical barrier when the door is not in use. The construction gives the door a more substantial feel and supports peace of mind when additional protection is needed.

Adjustable for Pets and Climate
Fit and performance can be tailored to your setup. The door is available in single and double flap configurations, and magnet strength can be adjusted to balance ease of use for your pet with the level of seal needed for your climate. This flexibility helps the door perform well across a range of conditions and pet behaviors.

Built for the Long Term
Built in the USA and backed by a lifetime warranty, this is a solution designed for long-term reliability, consistent performance, and a more refined everyday experience.

Double Flap Door Mount

Step 1 Prep Your Door

  • If you have not yet measured your pet, watch this video to ensure the pet door will work.
  • If possible, remove the door from its hinges using a screwdriver and hammer to tap out the hinge pins. Lay the door flap for installation. Tape the provided template to the door. The top edge of the cut-out line should be at least 3” above the pet's shoulders.
  • Be careful not to cut too close to the bottom of the door as you may reduce the door's strength. Level the top edge of the cut-out line.

Step 2 Drill the Holes

  • Once you are certain the pet door will work with your door, make sure the template is level, and mark the outline with a pencil. Remove the template and drill holes through the corners just inside of the lines using a 3/8” drill bit.
  • Make sure your drill is kept level and drills all the way through the door.

Step 3 Saw An Opening

  • Using a jigsaw, cut along the marked lines, making sure to cut straight.
  • We recommend applying masking tape along the outside of the lines to protect your door from scratch marks as you cut with the jigsaw.

Step 4 Place Sill Plate

  • Rest the sill plate at the bottom of the cutout with the weather stripping facing up and the outer leg on the outside of the door.

Step 5 Caulk U Shape Tunnel

  • Apply caulking to seal the tunnel to the inside frame.

Step 6 Check Weatherstripping

  • Ensure the weatherstripping is firmly pressed in the groove on both frames. Weatherstripping ends on the side for the inside frame, while the outside frame has an open area at the bottom to allow water to flow outside down the sill plate. Weatherstripping is indicated in red.

Step 7 Position the Frames

  • Place the inside frame with the tunnel on the inside of the door just resting on top of the sill plate weatherstripping. Take the exterior frame and place it on the outside of the door fitting inside the tunnel.

Step 8 Position Screws

  • Select appropriate screws and insert them into the pet door from the inside.
  • Do not fully tighten screws until all four screws are inserted and the pet door is leveled.
  • Use the included installation magnet to help align the screws.

Door Thickness Screw Length
1-5/8" to 1-3/4" Short Screws (2-1/4")
1-3/4" to 2-3/8" Long Screws (2-3/4")

Step 9 Screw Door Into Place

  • Once the pet door is leveled, tighten the screws so that the weatherstripping compresses.
  • Do not overtighten.

Step 10 Attach Screw Covers

  • Push the four screw covers in by hand to cover the screws.
  • If need be, use the wooden end of a hammer rubber, or other non-metal tool to tap in the hole plugs. You can also place a wood block on the hole plug and tap the block with a hammer.

Step 11 Seal With Silicone

  • Apply silicone where the two frames meet. Also apply silicone where the outside frame meets the door.
  • Don't seal the bottom edge of the exterior frame! This allows for proper drainage of any accumulated moisture.

FAQ

Are the panels/flaps flexible? Seems like it would trap a dog if it backed up.

The Endura Flap is slightly more rigid than other economy style flaps, but it is still a safe, soft, flexible flap. It remains flexible in temperatures as low as -40°F.

Is a single flap enough for severe winter weather?

A single flap Endura Flap pet door is extremely energy-efficient and capable of withstanding winds up to 50 mph. Because of its secure magnetic seal, it will insulate your home more than the average single flap door. But if you live in an area with severe weather, you may want to opt for the extra insulation value the double flap pet door has to offer. If you commit to a single flap door, you can increase the insulation value by increasing the magnetic strength.

Does the door sound very loud when the dog goes in or out?

When the flap gets to its resting place, there is a snapping sound when the magnets employ. This sound lets you know the door is doing its job sealing out the elements and keeping your heated or cooled air inside.

I do not have to contend with wind or rain. If I buy the single flap version of the wall dog door, is it possible to add the second flap in the future?

It is possible, but it's not simple and can be quite costly. You will need to purchase a new frame with the flap that can accomodate an additional flap.

What side does the locking cover slide in?

All locking covers slide in from the top. If you purchase a double flap model, the locking cover can be used on the inside or outside frame. If you purchase a single flap, the locking cover is on the interior frame.

Other brands of pet doors with plastic flaps always warp, which will let in air. How do these flaps hold up over time?

The Endura Flap is made with a special polymer called polyolefin. It remains safe, soft and flexible in temperatures as low as -40°F. It does not yellow nor harden in the sun. The patented magnetic design ensures the door door seals well for years. In fact, the pet door and flap are backed by a lifetime warranty.

Why is there a difference in pet door flap size for the single versus the double flap models?

Since each flap is dual walled, they are much thicker than average pet door flaps (about 7/8" thick). This means that when the pet puses through a double flap door, the inner and outer flap can stack on top of each other and take up more space. This means that there is a loss of about 1" at the top of the entryway. It's vital for your pet's long term health that they have enough clearance to walk through the pet door without scraping their backs; to help customers find the best fitting flap more easily, we calculate the loss of space into our flap size recommendations.

Is this a good dog door for garage door installations?

You can install this in pretty much any door, however most doors from the house to the garage have a fire rating. You will need to check your local code to see if installing it will affect your home's fire safety.

I see part # 03PP10 2 on the website, what size is that?

That is the double flap Endura Flap Pet Door for Doors in the size large. #03PP10 1 is the single flap version of the large Endura Flap Pet Door.

I have stock code #03PP12 1, is that single or double flap?

That is Endura Dog Doors for Doors in extra large with a single flap.

If I get #03PP12 2, can I just take a flap off if my cat has trouble with it?

You would have to uninstall the entire unit, as you have to remove the rod that holds the flap in the frame. It would be easier to adjust the magnets or start with a single flap model.

Is the Endura Flap for door mounting the same as the wall mount?

Yes! The flap and frames are identical, the only difference would be the hardware that is included for installation. The wall mount comes with the tunnel pieces needed to securely install into a wall.

My door is 1-3/4" thick. Should I buy a double or single flap Endura Flap unit?

You can order either. The double flap installs in doors 1-3/4" up to 2-1/4" thick and the single flap installs in doors 1/2" up to 1-3/4" thick.

What is the Endura Flap 03PP?

It is the Endura Dog Doors for Doors.

What is your most popular Endura Flap Pet Door for Doors?

It is the Single Flap, large size (10"w x 19"h) with a white frame.

I'm looking for Doggie Doors for Dachshunds in a very cold climate - What do you recommend?

The Endura Flap pet door is a great option. It seals shut against the weather and wind.

Is the Eudora Flap the same as the Endura Dog Door for Doors?

Yes, we believe “Eudora” is a misspelling of “Endura.” However, if your Eudora pet door looks different from the images on our site, please reach out to our customer service team for assistance.

Can I use this for my kennel?

For kennels in shelters and doggy daycares, we recommend checking out the Endura Flap Pet Door for Kennels.

Can this install into surfaces thinner than 1"?

Not this model, but we do have the Endura Flap for Thin Doors. Please note that it is only available as a single flap pet door.

Can I install this into a glass surface, like a window or sliding door?

This model cannot be installed into glass, but we have a couple of pet door in-glass installation methods available.
