Parts

  • 1 Retainer bottom
  • 2 Barrel nuts
  • 1 Small magnet set (Large flaps only)
  • 2 Screws
  • 3/16 (or 5mm) Brad point drill bit

Tools

  • Phillips head drill bit

Please read instructions & notes thoroughly before installation.

Step 1 Remove the Retainer Bottom

  • Pull on the retainer bottom to detach it from your flap. The magnets should be in the correct position when you remove the retainer bottom. However, if they fall out of the flap, you will need to reorient them in the appropriate direction.
  • If your magnets fall out of the flap: realign them correctly by sticking them to your strike. Then, position the magnets within the flap so that they will be attracted to the strike. The number and position of the magnets will vary depending on the size of your flap. Review the diagram for possible configurations.
  • For size Large flaps: switch out the long magnets in your flap with the shorter magnets provided. Make sure that the new magnets are correctly attracted to the strike magnets.

Step 2 Snap On Your New Retainer Bottom

  • Attach the new retainer bottom by pushing it onto the bottom of your flap.

Step 3 Drill Through the Flap

  • Using a drill with a 3/16 (5mm) Brad point drill bit, drill through the small hole on the left side of your retainer bottom into your flap. Only drill halfway through the flap. Do not drill all the way through.
  • Repeat for the remaining holes on the retainer bottom. There are two holes located on each side of the flap.
  • The holes on both sides of the flap should connect.

Step 4 Push the Barrels into the Flap

  • On one side of the flap, push both of the barrels into the holes you drilled.

Step 5 Install the Screws Into the Flap

  • Flip the flap over. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, screw the two screws through the remaining two holes. Tighten them until they are snug.

very chewable

These cheap plastic clips are the worst part of the door. I haven't discovered whether it is a dog or the cat that chews the corners off, but one of them does and i have to trim the chewed part off or replace this clip frequently. Please make the metal ones again!!!!

Great product, excellent support!

I installed an EnduraFlap Large double dog door in May of '21. The only issue I experienced was a single retainer clip that refused to stay on the inside flap. A brief online chat resulted in them shipping a set of replacement clips. Since I swapped that clip, it hasn't come off, not even once. This is a remarkable door. My dogs (56 & 36 pounds) fly through it while barely slowing down. I live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY, where we've had a lot of wind, cold and snow over the last few months. There isn't even a slight draft off this door.

Flap Retainer clips

My original retainer clips were made out of stainless steel and the new ones are plastic. Clearly, the stainless steel were better.
