What people are saying...

8 dogs, 3 years and counting

Do you know how many times 8 dogs go in and out a pet door in 3 years? A very conservative estimate is over 350,000 times. And the flap still works like the day I got it. AMAZING! Previous doors could not stand up to my pack. The flaps tore. The frame for the door broke. The flaps, and eventually the doors had to be replaced. This one? Still going strong. Yes, it costs a bit more initially. In the long run, it is soooo worth it. Cannot say enough about this product.

Customer service is FANTASTIC

So, I originally ordered the incorrect size door... Customer service was friendly, efficient and had the correct sized door on it's way to me the next day. The door is very sturdy, the flap stays closed during windy days and the double pane keeps out the Florida heat and humidity. Totally recommend over the more inexpensive doors where I had to replace the flimsy flaps once a year.

Small, middle, and large dog all use the same door

I have three dogs of small, middle, and large size and they all use the same door. They run through the door like its not even there and they get upset when we lock it dues to rain. It was the best thing I've ever bought for my dogs.

Durable and Reliable

I purchased my sliding glass thermo panel in like 2003. I put in a replacement flap today because my pup had chewed the old one!!! The panel is still great after all these years! I've only had to replace some flaps over the years! They might seem expensive, but mine has lasted years! I currently have a 110 lb yellow Lab, 2 Bosties and a Frenchie! My door gets a workout!

Pet Doors for Sliding Glass Door

A door that slides into the door you already have

A slider panel is the lowest-commitment way to give your pet outdoor access. Nothing gets cut, nothing gets installed permanently, and when you move or change setups, the panel comes out and the slider goes back to how it was.

Renters install these. Homeowners who don't want to touch their wall install these. People who want to take it with them when they move install these.

What makes the Endura Flap version different is the flap itself. It seals magnetically against the frame on every edge, not just the bottom, so wind and weather don't pull air in along the sides the way they do with thinner, single-magnet doors. That's why our customers in single-digit winters tell us the panel keeps drafts out, and why an installed Endura Flap routinely outlasts the slider it's installed in.

How to pick the right one

How to measure: open your slider all the way. Stand a tape measure on the bottom track, inside the slider channel. Measure straight up to the top track. Read in inches, including any fractions (many slider height land on something like 77-3/4" or 80-1/2", not a round number)

The number one reason a panel doesn't fit is the height doesn't match your sliding door. Two minutes with the tape measure prevents this easy-to-make mistake.

Pick your frame type: vinyl or aluminum. The frame type that fits depends on your slider's track width. Pull out a tape measure and check the width of your bottom track.

Vinyl Frame (most homes). Requires a track width of 1-1/2" or more. Standard in most modern homes built after the mid-1990's. Vinyl panels match vinyl sliders for clean look.

Aluminum Frame (narrow tracks). Requires a track width of 1" or more. Works in older homes and anywhere the track is too narrow for vinyl. Pairs well with aluminum-framed sliders.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my slider for the right height?

Open your slider all the way. Place a tape measure on the bottom track, inside the slider channel, and measure straight up to the top track. Record the measurement in inches, including any fractions (most sliders land on something like 77.25" or 80.5", rarely a round number). Match your measurement to one of the standard height ranges on each product page. If your slider is between standard ranges or taller than 96.25", the aluminum Thermo Panel can be custom-made. Contact us for custom sizing.

How do I know if I have a vinyl or aluminum slider?

Look at the bottom track of your slider. If it's white or a colored plastic-like material with rounded edges, it's vinyl. If it's a metal track with sharper edges and visible weep holes, it's aluminum. As a backup, measure the width of the bottom track: if it's 1.5" or wider, you have plenty of room for a vinyl panel; if it's between 1" and 1.5", you'll need the aluminum panel; under 1" needs a custom solution.

What's the difference between the Thermo Panel 3e and the Dual Pane version?

Same aluminum frame, same Endura Flap. The standard Thermo Panel 3e has single-pane Low-E glass; the Dual Pane version has two panes of glass with an insulating air gap between them. The Dual Pane offers better insulation and visually matches modern double-pane sliders. Pick Dual Pane if your existing slider has double-pane glass or if you're in an extreme climate. Pick the standard Thermo Panel if your existing slider is single-pane or your climate is moderate.

Why is there only one double-flap option (Severe Weather)?

The Endura Flap itself is thick enough and insulating enough that a single flap handles most climates well. The Severe Weather Vinyl Slider adds a second flap because in genuinely harsh winters (regular sub-zero temperatures, sustained high winds), the air pocket between two flaps adds meaningful insulation. Outside those climates, the single-flap versions are usually the right pick.

What if I have a monorail track?

Both vinyl and aluminum panels can be adapted to a monorail track with our monorail adapter, sold separately. Mention monorail when you order and we'll include the adapter. If you're not sure whether your track is monorail or dual-track, look at it from the side: monorail has a single raised rail in the center; dual-track has two parallel rails with a channel between them.

Will this work with my home security system?

The panel itself doesn't trigger anything. The issue is usually that your existing slider had a sensor or contact, and installing the panel changes the geometry so that contact no longer aligns. Most security companies can either reposition the sensor or add a glass-break sensor that monitors the panel itself. Check with your security provider before ordering, and if removal is going to be an issue, the panel comes out cleanly when you move.

How secure is a slider pet door panel?

Every Endura Flap slider includes two locks: a slide-in plastic locking cover that blocks the flap opening from outside entry, and a C-clamp lock that secures the panel to the slider track to prevent the slider itself from being opened. For higher security, we recommend a Charley Bar (a horizontal bar that drops between the slider and the wall) as a secondary mechanical reinforcement. Charley Bars unlock in seconds when you want to use the slider normally.

How do I install the panel?

Open your slider all the way. Lift the panel into the track, top first (the spring-loaded top section compresses to make this possible), then drop the bottom into the bottom track. Adjust the height with the side adjustment screws so the panel sits snugly between the tracks. Attach the C-clamp lock to the slider track to lock everything in place. Total time is 15 to 30 minutes. Detailed installation videos are linked from each product page.

How long does the flap last?

Under normal use, indefinitely. We have customers who bought their panels 15 and 20 years ago and are still on the original flap. The most common reason to replace a flap is chewing damage from a young dog, usually solvable with a few weeks of pet-safe bitter spray. Replacement flaps are available on our Parts and Accessories page.

What if my pet is too small or too timid to push the flap open?

The flap weight isn't the issue. The issue is the magnetic seal: stronger magnets seal better against weather but require more force to push through. The single-flap models have lighter magnetic resistance than the double-flap Severe Weather model. You can also remove some of the magnets along the flap edge to lighten the push further. Most pets figure it out with a few days of practice. Our customer service team can walk you through magnet adjustments.

What if I'm renting? Can I take it with me?

Yes. Panels are removable. The panel sits in the existing track and is held by adjustment screws and a C-clamp lock. When you move, undo the lock, retract the height adjustment, and lift the panel out. Your slider returns to its original condition. This is the main reason renters and people in transitional living situations choose a panel over a wall mount or door mount.

I just need a replacement flap or part for my existing panel. Where do I go?

Our Parts and Accessories page has replacement flaps in every size, locking covers, weatherstripping, draft stoppers, height extensions, and monorail adapters. If you're not sure which flap size to order, our team can look up your original order or identify the flap from a photo. Email customerservice@enduraflap.com or call 800.826.2871.

Can I get a permanent installation that looks built-in?

Yes. The Pet Door Guys In The Glass option installs the Endura Flap directly into a replacement glass pane that fits your slider. A glass shop fabricates the new pane to match your slider's dimensions, then swaps it in. The result looks original to the door, with no panel taking up part of the opening. It's the most permanent and the highest-finish option in this category.

My sliders meet in the middle. Will a panel still work?

Yes, but with one trade-off. You'll need to anchor one of the sliders to the middle post so it stays put while the panel fills its position. The other slider continues to work as your active door. In effect, you go from two operable sliders to one operable slider and one fixed panel. If you'd rather not lose the operable second slider, the In The Glass option is the better path.

Can the panel be installed in a wooden sliding door?

Yes, with a track width check. Pull out a tape measure and check the bottom track. If it's 1" or wider, you can use the aluminum panel. If it's 1.5" or wider, you can use the vinyl panel. If it's a monorail, you'll need the monorail adapter. If your wooden door doesn't fit any of these, our team can usually find a way.

What other options exist if a slider panel isn't right?

Three alternatives:

  1. Door mount. Cut into your existing exterior door. Permanent, lower install effort than a wall mount, but requires modifying a door you may want to leave intact.
  2. Wall mount. Cut into an exterior wall. Most permanent option, can be placed anywhere on the wall, but the highest install effort and not removable.
  3. In-the-glass pet door. Replace your existing slider glass with a new pane that has the pet door integrated. Looks built-in but requires a glass shop.
