What is National Pet Day?
National Pet Day is an annual day dedicated to celebrating our pets and all the love and joy they bring to our lives. First celebrated in 2006, National Pet Day remains a perfect reason to celebrate your pets a little extra. Our pets do so much for us, offering unconditional love and keeping us healthy and happy, and they deserve to be honored for this.
How to Celebrate National Pet Day
Celebrating National Pet Day can be as simple as giving your pet a big hug—just make sure your dog or cat actually wants to be hugged first! Another great way to celebrate is to give your pet their favorite treat or make a yummy DIY treat for them. Just check which fruits and vegetables are toxic to dogs before you get started.
A favorite of many pet parents is to post their favorite pictures of their pets on their social media. Make sure to queue up your best pictures in preparation for April 11th!
Donating to animal shelters is also a wonderful way to celebrate National Pet Day. Shelters work hard to find loving homes for pets, and supporting them through donations, volunteer work, or any way that works for you is a great way to say thank you to our pets.
