Double Flap Door Mount
Step 1 Prep Your Door
- If possible, remove the door from its hinges using a screwdriver and hammer to tap out the hinge pins. Lay the door flap for installation. Tape the provided template to the door. The top edge of the cut-out line should be at least 3” (7,6 cm) above the pet's shoulders.
Step 2 Drill the Holes
- Once you are certain the pet door will work with your door, make sure the template is level, and mark the outline with a pencil. Remove the template and drill holes through the corners just inside of the lines using a ⅜” (9,5 mm) drill bit.
Step 3 Saw An Opening
- Using a jigsaw, cut along the marked lines, making sure to cut straight.
Step 4 Place Sill Plate
- Rest sill plate at the bottom of the cutout with the weather stripping facing up and the outer leg on the outside of the door.
Step 5 Caulk U Shape Tunnel
- Apply caulking to seal the tunnel to the inside frame on the 3 sides of the U shaped metal tunnel.
Step 6 Check Weatherstripping
- Ensure the weatherstripping is firmly pressed in the groove on both frames. Weatherstripping ends on the side for the inside frame, while the outside frame has an open area at the bottom to allow water to flow outside down the sill plate. Weatherstripping is indicated in red.
Step 7 Position the Frames
- Place the inside frame with the tunnel on the inside of the door just resting on top of the sill plate weatherstripping. Take the exterior frame and place it on the outside of the door fitting inside the tunnel.
Step 8 Position Screws
- Select appropriate screws and insert them into the pet door from the inside.
Door Width | Screw Length |
---|---|
1-⅜” (3.5 cm) | Short Screws (1-¾”) |
1-¾” (4.4 cm) | Long Screws (2-¼”) |
Step 9 Screw Door Into Place
- Once the pet door is leveled, tighten the screws so that the weatherstripping compresses.

FAQ
Are the panels/flaps flexible? Seems like it would trap a dog if it backed up. The Endura Flap is slightly more rigid than other economy style flaps, but it is a safe, soft, flexible flap. It remains flexible in temperatures as low as -40°F. |
Is a single flap enough for winter weather? A single Endura Flap is extremely energy-efficient and capable of withstanding winds up to 50 mph. It is the only door which allows you to increase the magnetic strength for increased wind resistance. It is recommended for timid pets. The double flap increases the energy-efficiency further. |
Does the door sound very loud when the dog goes in or out? When the flap gets to its resting place there is a snapping sound when the magnets employ. This sound lets you know the door is doing its job sealing out the elements and keeping your heated or cooled air inside. |
I do not have to contend with wind or rain, if I buy the single flap version of the wall dog door is it possible to add the second flap in the future? It is possible, but it's not simple and can be quite costly. You will need to purchase a new inner or outer frame with the flap as single flap and double flap frames are built differently. |
What side does the locking cover slide in? All locking covers slide in from the top. If you purchase a double flap model, the locking cover can be used on the inside or outside frame. If you purchase a single flap, the locking cover is on the interior frame. |
Other brands of pet doors with plastic flaps always warp and thus let in air. How do these flaps hold up over time? The Endura Flap is made with a special polymer called polyolefin. It remains safe, soft and flexible in temperatures as low as -40°F. It does not yellow nor harden in the sun. The patented magnetic design ensures the door door seals well for years. In fact, the pet door and flap are backed by a Lifetime warranty. To contact Endura Flap for door warranty email a photo to our customer service team, and we can take a look and let you know. |
Are there color options other than white? Yes, they are available in Tan and very Dark Bronze. |
Does this door seal tightly against the frame so air and mosquitoes can't pass through. If so, does the guarantee cover that lasting, as well? The double flap door mounts come with a tube of silicone that can be used to seal the edges around the frame. NOTE: single flap door mounts do NOT come with silicone. The warranty does not cover any accidents or damage made by improper installation. |
Why is there a difference in pet door flap size for the single versus the double flap models? Since each flap is dual walled making them 7⁄8" thick as the pet pushes through the first flap will actually hit the second flap. This makes it so that there is a loss of about 1" of space a the top of the endura double flap pet doors as they enter or exit. |
Is this a good dog door for garage door installations? You can install this in pretty much any door application, however most doors from the house to the garage have a fire rating so you need to check your local code to see it installing it is allowed. |
I see part # 03PP10 2 on the website, what size is that? That is Endura Flap Pet Door for Doors-Large-Double Flap and 03PP10 1 is the Endura Flap Pet Door for Doors-Large-Single Flap. |
I have stock code 03PP12 1, is that single or double flap? That is Endura Dog Doors for Doors-Extra Large-Single Flap. |
If I get 03PP12 2, can I just take a flap off if my cat has trouble with it? You would have to uninstall the Endura For Doors, as you have to be able to remove the endura flap rod that holds it in the frame. It would be easier to adjust the magnets or just use a single flap not the double. |
Is the Endura Flap for door mounting the same as the wall mount? Yes! The flap and frames are identical, the only difference would be the hardware that is included for installation. |
My door is 1 3⁄4" thick. Should I buy an Endura Flap Pet Doors double or Endura Flap Pet Doors single flap? You can order either. The double flap installs in doors 1 3⁄4" up to 2 1⁄4" thick and the single flap installs in doors 1⁄2" up to 1 3⁄4" thick. |

What is your most popular Endura Flap Pet Door for Doors? It is the Single Flap, Large size (10"w x 19"h) with a White Frame |
On the Endura Flap Size Chart I see two different heights for each size, why? The actual flap size is the same, but with the double flap model, when the two flaps reach 90° they touch and reduce the height of the opening for the pet. |
What double flap pet doors should I look at if I'm looking for a long-lasting, insulated dog door? The Endura Door for Doors are available in two models.
