Product Details

The order includes a fully assembled doggy door replacement flap, containing the retainer bottom, side, and bottom magnets, pivot washers, and replacement hole plugs.  If replacing a Wall Mounted pet door flap you might consider ordering new Threaded Wall Studs to make the reinstallation of the pet door frames easier.  Endura replacement flaps are made with the original environmentally-friendly, polyolefin-based polymer material. They are made to withstand extreme weather conditions.

If you are replacing a double flap, you will need to purchase two Endura dog door flap replacements, unless you only want to change one of them. The Endura Flap Dog Door Flap Replacement is a simple solution for fixing your worn flap without buying an entirely new door. Color selection is for Hole plugs on the Door Mount, Wall Mount, and Severe Weather panels only (select white if you have a Brushed Aluminum Thermo Panel or Thermo Sash)

Parts

  • 1 Replacement Flap
  • 3 Retainer Rings
  • 8 Hole Plugs

Tools

  • Magnetic Phillips head #2 screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Drill

Step 1 Remove the Hole Plugs

  • First remove the Endura Flap from the door or wall.
  • To do this, you will need to remove the hole plugs. Don't worry, we sent you some extra ones!
  • You can drill a hole in each plug and wiggle the plug out with a screwdriver to pull them off.

Step 2 Unscrew the Frame

  • Next unscrew the frame and remove the whole assembly from the door/wall.

Step 3 Remove Retainer Ring

  • Now that the assembly that holds the flap is removed from the door/wall, look for a metal rod at the top of the frame that holds the flap.
  • Remove a retainer ring from one end of the flap rod by forcing the ring off with a flathead screwdriver.
  • If you are replacing the inside flap of a Double Flap Wall Mount, you will first need to unscrew the threaded rods and remove the aluminum tunnel to expose the screw heads of the flap rod. To do this, bend the tabs laying flat against the tunnel upwards so that you can detach the side tunnel pieces from the upper tunnel piece.
  • You will need to do the same thing for replacing the inside flap of a Double Flap Door Mount. This is because the tunnel pieces are attached to the interior frame, so they cover up the flap rod. You do not need to complete this step if you are replacing the exterior flap.

Step 4 Remove the Rod

  • Once you have removed a retainer ring from one end of the flap rod, you can push the rod through the flap frame until it comes out on the other side.
  • Pull the rod out and remove the flap.

Step 5 Expand the Bellows

  • Use a blow dryer to lightly heat the sides of the new flap and stretch them out to ensure a better seal.

Step 6 Check the Magnets

  • Before installing your new flap you should check to make sure that the magnets in the flap and the frame are attracting correctly.
  • If they seem to be repelling, you probably need to flip the flap around so they work properly.

Step 7 Position the New Flap

  • Now slide the new flap in place in the frame, and guide the flap rod through the side of the frame, through the flap, and out the other side.

Step 8 Install Retainer Ring

  • Push the new retainer ring on by holding the other side of the rod in place while pushing the ring on using your finger.
  • Each side only needs one ring, and the teeth need to bent facing away from the flap.

Step 9 Re-Install the Pet Door

  • Reinstall the flap and frame into the door or wall.
  • Line the holes up so you can see light through them, then screw the frame into place.
  • Once you’re sure everything is correct, put the new hole plugs in using a rubber mallet (or a hammer and wood).
  • You can refer to Endura Pet Door installation videos in the videos tab to help with this step.

Parts

  • 1 Replacement Flap
  • 3 Retainer Rings

Tools

  • Magnetic Phillips head #2 screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver

Step 1 Remove the Screws

  • Remove the screw covers from the interior frame using your fingernail or a flat tool to pry them off.
  • Remove the screws from the interior frame with the Phillips head screwdriver.
  • As needed, cut through any caulking to remove the frame you are replacing the flap for.

Step 2 Remove the Flap Rod

  • Look for a metal rod at the top of the flap frame—remove one of the circular metal retaining rings by forcing it off with a flathead screwdriver.
  • You only need to remove one retainer ring.
  • Push the metal rod through the flap frame until it comes out on the other side. Pull the rod out and remove the flap.

Step 3 Replace the Flap

  • Position the new flap in place in the frame and make sure the magnets are attracting correctly. If they are not, try flipping the flap around (switching the interior and exterior faces).
  • Sometimes the bellows (accordion-like sides of the flap) contract during shipping and prevent the magnets from attracting. To fix this, remove the pivot washers from the top corners of the flap and use a blow dryer to lightly heat the bellows and stretch them back out.

Step 4 Reinstall the Rod

  • IGuide the metal rod back through the flap and frame.
  • Push a new retainer ring on by holding the other side of the rod in place while pushing the ring on with your fingers.
  • Each side only needs one ring, and the teeth need to be bent facing away from the flap. If you’re having difficulties putting the new ring on, try flipping the ring around so the teeth are facing the opposite direction.

Step 5 Reinstall Flap Assembly

  • Reinstall the flap assembly into the opening, then screw them into place. Do not overtighten.
  • Install the included new set of screw covers by pressing them on by hand.
  • Add any caulking needed to reseal seams. Do not caulk the bottom edge of the outside frame! This provides water drainage for the unit.

Great dog door, but why are they dog treat flavored?

I love this double dog door. Very insulated from the weather and can survive quite a while even though my large dogs sprint outside like speeding freight trains. But the new dog apparently likes the flavor of these replacement flaps. She chewed up the bottom plastic piece and side ****** like its made from bacon. Two replacement doors torn up in short order. She doesn't touch the original door flap with the metal bottom piece, so I wish you would go back to the previous metal design. But overal satisfied.

Endura Flap Replacement Flaps Review

Our dog door has been installed for 20 years and usually we have 1 cat and 2 dogs so it gets a lot of use. Naturally tt has been dirty for some time. We got a new puppy and I removed one flap so he only had to go through one flap. So I got this replacement when he got bigger and could plow through 2 flaps. Went in fine and looks better.
