Frequently Asked Questions
What size Watchdog Steel Security Cover do I need for my Endura Flap?
The Watchdog Steel Security Pet Door Cover is sized to your flap opening, not the frame. Match it to your Endura Flap flap size: Large, XL, or XXL. If you have a double-flap or wall-mount door, use the flap dimensions printed on your original order to select the matching cover size.
Will the Watchdog cover work with a double-flap or wall-mount Endura Flap?
Yes. The Watchdog cover installs over the existing pet door opening and works with single-flap, double-flap, door and wall-mount Endura Flap models, as long as the cover size matches your flap opening.
How is the Watchdog steel cover different from the standard locking cover?
The Watchdog is a heavy steel cover that puts a solid, lockable barrier in front of the opening, best for when you're away or asleep and want absolute certainty that an intruder cannot manipulate the pet door from the outside. The standard Locking Cover is molded ABS: lighter, easy to slide in daily, and ideal for nightly use.
It is highly unlikely that an intruder would be able to break through the Endura Flap locking cover that is included with your pet door, while the Watchdog security cover is designed to prevent any and all access to the pet door.
How do I lock my Endura Flap at night or when I'm away?
Slide the included Locking Cover into the top channel of your pet door frame; it locks in place with a clip latch. Larger sizes use dual latches for added hold. It blocks access without affecting how the flap works during normal use.
How secure is the locking cover? Can someone remove it from outside?
The Locking Cover uses a clip latch system (dual latches on larger sizes) and reinforced ABS construction for added strength. The latch system is inaccessible from the outside, meaning that someone cannot remove the locking cover once in place. The ABS material is equivalent in strength to a 1/16" steel sheet, and it is highly unlikely that an intruder would break through without heavy tools or equipment.
For maximum security situations, consider the steel Watchdog Security Cover, which mounts to the exterior, covering the pet door frame entirely, and closes with a combination lock.
What is the SlideLock and what's included?
The Endura Flap SlideLock is a heavy-duty steel, pin-actuated deadbolt that secures a sliding glass door or window when a pet door insert prevents the standard lock from engaging. It installs in minutes with the included hardware.
Does the Endura Flap keep out raccoons and other neighborhood animals?
The flap closes with magnets but is not selective on its own, it won't distinguish your pet from wildlife. To keep raccoons, stray cats, and other animals out when you're not using it, be sure to insert the locking cover which will prevent any access from wildlife or other pets.
I installed the security panel upside down and it's stuck: what do I do?
The panel latch should sit at the top so it slides up and out. If inserted upside down with the latch at the bottom, depress the latch and gently work it free. If it won't release, contact our support team and we'll help you free it without damaging the panel.
Can I still lock my sliding patio door if it latches at both the top and bottom?
Yes. The Endura Flap SlideLock can be installed in a variety of positions, and will reliably deadbolt close to prevent your sliding door from being opened.
