What people are saying...

Best Dog Door for 20 years!

We've owned an Endura Flap dog door for 20 years and love, love, love it! It's held up to thousands upon thousands of in and outs by several dogs and grandchildren. We had to replace a flap after 18 years because the kids got too rough but it has never broken. We live in Texas where the temps range from 10 - 110 degrees and it does a good job keeping out the extreme air temps. We just bought a new one for our daughter's new home so they can enjoy years of convenience, too.

Worth the price

I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the extra money on this door but so glad I did. It's super sturdy and has options to how strong the door is. It has kept the heat out during 90 plus degree weather. I've had several different types of doors and this one is by far the best. Installation was not hard at all. There are also lots of tutorial videos available for adjustments as well as the installation.

Amazing!

We have two Endura Flap doors and two 90 lb. sporting breed dogs. They blast through the door to meet us in the garage when we come home. In spite of over a year of energetic use from our large strong dogs, both flaps are good as new. The exterior door holds cold out and heat in. The security cover slides in easily, locks securely, and lifts out easily. Quality build, tight tolerances and smooth operation throughout. Couldn't recommend this product more enthusiastically.

Easy Installation

We've installed multiple doggie doors and this was, by far, the easiest! The door is also very quiet and closes with very few swings, even when the dog comes thru at top speed. I highly recommend.

Cutting into your door is the easier path

Installing a pet door in your existing exterior door is the most popular way to do this for a reason: the install is faster, simpler, and less risky than cutting into a wall. You're working with material that's already meant to have hardware cut into it, and if you ever decide you're done with the pet door, you simply replace the door panel and you're back to a clean opening.

Customers tell us they don't feel a draft sleeping next to it, even in single-digit winters.

Two things make the Endura Flap work well in a door. The flap seals magnetically against the frame on every edge, not just the bottom, so wind and rain don't pull air in along the sides. And the flap itself is 7/8" thick, dual-layered, with a sealed interior, putting it in the ranks with dual-pane glass for insulation.

How to pick the right one

Start with what kind of door you have. Our doors collection handles three common door types. Match yours first, then pick the flap configuration and size, as well as frame color, on the product page.

  • Standard exterior door, 1" to 2-3/8" thick (wood, metal, fiberglass, hollow core, solid core, storm doors). This is the most common case. Use the Endura Flap Door Mount Pet Door. Single flap fits doors 1" to 1-3/4" thick; double flap fits doors 1-5/8" to 2-3/8" thick.
  • Thin doors or panels, 1/2" to 1-1/8" thick (interior doors, some screen door frames some storm doors, sheds and kennels). Use the Endura Flap Pet Door for Thin Doors.
  • French door, where you'll replace the glass pane with a custom option with the pet door built right in. This is the cleanest, most finished-looking install for a French door. Use the Utah Pet Access French Door Glass Insert.
Then pick single or double flap

Single flap pushes lighter and is easier for small dogs and cats. It works well in moderate climates and for doors that open into a garage or unconditioned space.

Double flap creates an air pocket between the two flaps and is the better seal against weather. If you have real winters or real summers, or if you can feel a drafter from your existing door, go double.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is installing a pet door in my door easy?

Installing a pet door in a door is much easier than installing through a wall, but it will require cutting a hole in your door. See our pet door for doors installation pages for more details. See our installation guide to learn about other installation options.

What’s the difference between a door mount and a wall mount?
Where can I install the door mount pet door?

You can install the Endura Flap Door Mount in solid-core doors, hollow-core doors, metal doors, and storm doors. For doors more than 1-¾” thick for the single flap, or 2-¼” thick for the double flap, you will need a Wall Mount like the Endura Flap Pro Series.

Can I install the pet door on an uneven surface?

Yes, the Endura Flap Door Mount can be installed on uneven surfaces. You will just need to fill any gaps between the pet door frame and recessed surfaces with caulking to maintain insulation.

What is the difference between the regular Endura Flap and the Endura Flap for Kennels?

The Endura Flap for Kennels is a stripped-down version of the Endura Flap that only includes its essential components, which can be preferable for anyone installing the Endura Flap in bulk.

What size hole will I need to cut into my door to install a pet door?

See the “Rough Cut Out” column of the size chart on the Single Flap Door Mount or Double Flap Door Mount pages to find the dimensions of the hole you will cut in your door.

Cutout size will depend on flap size. See this flap size reference chart for more details.

What if I want to close the pet door at night?

Every Endura Flap Pet Door comes with a Locking Cover to block access to the flap when needed. For extra protection, you can install the Watchdog Security Dog Cover.

Are there Endura replacement flaps available?

Yes, we carry Replacement Endura Flaps. See our full selection of Pet Door Replacement Parts and Accessories for more replacement options.

Can cats and dogs share this door?

Yes, cats and dogs can share this door. However, we do not recommend flap sizes larger than the Small for cats, since these flaps are so insulating and heavy-duty.

If you need a larger flap size for your dog, you can adjust the magnet strength so that your cat can use the door too. Keep in mind that this will reduce the wind resistance of the flap.

If you have a very large dog but want a door for your cat as well, you might consider installing another Endura Flap for Your Cat with a small flap size.

Can I install this into a glass surface?

Not directly, but we work with other manufacturers so that we can offer a version of the Endura Flap pet door that is built directly into the glass of your door. Check out the Utah Pet Access door.
