Easy Ways to Upgrade Your Pet Door

Pet doors face a lot of wear and tear over the years. The good news is that with a high-quality pet door like the Endura Flap, you won’t have to spend a fortune on replacement flaps and parts every year. However, even a high-performing pet door can start looking a little worse for wear over time. In this article, we’ll go over some ways you can upgrade an old Endura Flap Pet Door so it looks good as new.

Upgrade the Flap:

The first indication of a well-used pet door is a worn-out flap. Most pet door flaps need to be replaced fairly often as they break down under constant use and harsh weather. The Endura Flap, on the other hand, stands up to active dogs and extreme weather. After years of use, however, you may notice the flap is looking a little too well-loved for your liking. Dog damage to door flap can also be an issue if your pet is a flap chewer.

A great solution is the Endura Replacement Flap. It’s compatible with all Endura Flap Pet Door models and the exact same design as the original flap your door came with. Sometimes, a fresh flap is all you’ll need to make your pet door look brand-new. Take a look at the replacement rod as well if you want to fully upgrade your door’s flap system.

Customize Magnet Strength:

Another option for upgrading the pet door flap is increasing or decreasing magnet strength. The Endura Flap has customizable magnet strength to match your pet’s strength as well as your weather resistance needs. You can remove some magnets to help a small, timid, or arthritic pet use the door successfully.

You can also purchase additional magnets to increase the wind resistance of the flap or to replace lost magnets. If you need additional magnets for the latter reason, chances are you’re missing the retainer clip too, which can also be replaced to freshen up your pet door

Improve Weather Resistance:

The weather resistance of the Endura Flap Pet Door is unmatched by any other pet door on the market. However, there are a couple of steps you can take to keep the pet door operating at peak performance for years on end. As mentioned previously, increasing magnet strength is always a great option for protecting your home from extreme winds.

For patio panels such as the Thermo Panel 3e, replacing an old, worn-out draft stopper can work wonders. You can also upgrade the weatherstripping for improved weather resistance.

One of the best ways to improve your weather resistance is to invest in a double flap door, such as the Endura Flap E2 Double Flap Pet Door for Thick Walls.

Add Locking Features:

Every Endura Flap Pet Door comes with a secure locking cover to block access to the flap when needed. If you lose yours or find that it just isn’t looking as good as it used to, check out the replacement locking cover.

One way to upgrade patio panel pet doors is to ensure that you’re maximizing security. While all of our panels come with a sturdy C-Clamp Lock, another great security option is a Charley Bar. Charley bars provide additional security by locking your pet door panel to your sliding door or window. If you prefer a DIY option, a wooden dowel in the door track works great too!
